About:
Thomas Combe was a printer and patron of the arts. Combe met Millais in 1850, and invited him to stay at his house with painter Charles Allston Collins. Influenced by Millais, Combe collected Pre-Raphaelite art when Pre-Raphaelite paintings were under harsh scrutiny by the critics, and the survival of the movement owed much to Combe’s patronage.
