Abstract

G.A. Storey was born on January 7, 1834. Skilled in both math and art, he was unsure of which career path he would ultimately choose. In 1848 he traveled to Paris to study under M. Morand, a mathematician at the Athenée-Royale. Eventually Storey became more inclined towards the arts, and returned to London in 1850, and studied under Mr. Leigh at his art school in Newman Street. At 19, in 1852, he managed to enter a painting into the Royal Academy Exhibition. In 1853 he was admitted as a student into the Royal Academy and began to exhibit many paintings with the Academy. In 1876 he was elected an A.R.A.

“Some Fine Art Books.” The Graphic, issue 788, Jan. 3, 1885. "Part VI. of 'Artists at Home' (S. Low and Co.), contains the portraits of five very opposite characters—E. J. Poynter, R.A., T. O. Barlow, R.A., Macbeth and Storey, A.R.A.’s, and Mr. Gladstone. The volume fully sustains the promise of the earlier numbers, the photo engravings are excellent, and the letterpress brief and to the point."
