Description

Redgrave sits on the right-hand side of the composition, leaning back in an ornately carved chair with his legs crossed. He gazes blankly at the upper left corner. Behind him are two easels, and beside his legs, a table with various objects, including several pots and a bottle. Behind Redgrave is a chest of drawers, on top of which sits a large pot. A similar pot is on the floor near the artist. On the far left is a short flight of stairs that leads to a slightly higher level, sectioned off with a banister.
